Donna Hartwig and her family have a farm on the river on the outskirts of Wagga. Her studio is among a cluster of other farm sheds. Donna's sense of place is planted firmly in the Riverina. Farming life relies on seasons...the hot and the cold and most importantly the fickleness of rainfall. Farming is very much like gambling. It is a game of chance. Chance that not only shapes the nature and textures of the Riverina landscape but gives rise to the textures within Donna's paintings. Technically, Donna's work advances through experimenting with media to find textures mirroring the randomness and intrigue of nature itself.
